I have finally taken my first step to realizing my dream. For so long now I have wanted to do something with my passion for dance and travel. Countless hours have I spent day-dreaming about exploring every inch of this globe… my grand adventure! The challenge was not in whether I wanted to make this happen but rather the ‘How can I make this happen?’
With a lot of prayers, hard work, emails, phone calls, and finger-crossing, I have decided to throw myself into this project to see that I achieve my goals and I am satisfied that I gave it everything I had.
What are my goals? Well, let’s dig in.
Goal #1: I want to make a complete circle around the world, stopping in as many cities, countries, and continents as I can.
Goal #2: I want to teach workshops and classes, working with dance schools and studios both in big bustling cities and small rural villages alike.
Goal #3: I want to learn as many different cultural and traditional dances as possible, including the history and stories behind the movement.
Goal #4: I want to work to raise funds for charitable organizations and bring awareness to the different needs of each community; to make powerful and positive steps.
Goal #5: I want to share the countless stories of artists, dancers, teachers, companies, studios, projects, groups, performers, choreographers, and communities how dance has changed their life.
Goal #6: I want to document this entire experience in the form of an online journal, not only to remember my time traveling but to hopefully educate and inspire others as to the limitless of what they can achieve if they put their heart into it.
Phew, that’s quite a big list. However, there are a couple of things that I left off that I know will definitely be a huge part of this project: seeing the magnificent sights of the cities, visiting with old friends, and, without a doubt, eating as much as I possibly can! [For those of you who don’t know me, I am a big food lover!]
I know that this is going to be the biggest, scariest, most thrilling thing I have done in my life, but I am feeling so hopeful and optimistic about this. I am being called to do this.
I am so blessed to have met countless people that share the same passion as I do; those who support me and are willing to put in just as much work to make this happen. There is no way I could even dream about this without having these people in my life! To all of you, all I can say is a humble thank you. I am so full of love, gratitude, and appreciation for you.
With this, I am excited to announce the beginnings of A Step Around The World. Stay tuned for what’s in store!
