Buglisi Dance Theatre is partnering on this project with Dance/NYC and The September Concert. Participants are dancers from Buglisi Dance Theatre, The Juilliard School, the Martha Graham Center of Contemporary Dance, The Ailey School, National Dance Institute, Ballet Hispanico, STEPS on Broadway, and Peridance Capezio Center.
Today marks the 12 year anniversary of an event that changed our lives forever. We all remember exactly where we were when it happened; a moment frozen in time.
In these moments of tragedy, feelings begin to overflow. Grief. Sadness. Anger. Blame. Fear. Yet, at the same time there is a more powerful and positive reaction that when those feelings mentioned previously arise, we must reach for. Unity. Strength. Hope. Courage.
In these moments of tragedy, we can see the darkness hovering. Let LOVE, COMPASSION, and FORGIVENESS be our light.
No matter what your race, creed, class, gender, or beliefs are, we are all made of the same stuff. Bones. Lungs. A heart. Hands. Let us lift each other up, this day and every day. And remember always that with destruction comes reconstruction.
God can create great beauty from complete desolation.
